GOTL takes next steps in Planning Process
The Village of GOTL has retained the services of Poggemeyer Design Group (PDG) to help the community continue the planning process started in 2005 with the RCAP—Project Good START study. The goal is to develop a current downtown/ community plan, identifying and prioritizing needed improvements for the next 10-15 years. The project is being funded through a $15,000 Community Development Block Grant, Downtown Revitalization Tier 1 Planning Grant; a $10,000 Ashtabula County RLF grant; and a $5,000 grant form the Ashtabula County CDC.
The planning process should take about one year, and will involve a variety of steps to engage the public, including a resident survey, merchant, survey, and visitor survey to update similar surveys completed in 2005 (and to compare results and chart progress), and to prepare a marketing and promotional plan for the community. In addition, one or two public meetings will be held.
Results of this process are intended to include:
- A Downtown/Community Plan
- Building and public infrastructure survey
- A strategy to promote a year-round economy
- A Capital Improvements Program
- A potential CDBG Downtown Revitalization Tier 2 project
- Design Guidelines
You can follow progress on this project on the Village’s website. Please plan on attending public meetings and responding to the surveys.
