Passing of Bruce Lewis
On March 9, 2012, Bruce M. Lewis lost his battle with cancer. Bruce and his wife Carolyn lived in the Morrow area most of their lives, and he served as a Washington Township Trustee for 12 years. Bruce was a decorated WWII veteran, a member of the Morrow VFW, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, and was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Carolyn, two children, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Bruce was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be missed. Our condolences extend to his family.

Fire and EMS Renewal Levies
Thank you for your “YES” vote on November 2, 2010 for our two Fire and EMS Renewal Levies. These dollars partially reimburse the Salem-Morrow Fire Department and the Wayne Fire Department for their Fire and Ambulance runs in our township. Residents who are served by the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District did NOT have this issue on their ballots.
Bed Bugs
The Warren County Combined Health District has published a pamphlet on “Bed Bugs” for the public’s information. If you would like to have a copy, contact them at 513-695-1220.
“Historic Warren County”
The Heritage Advisory Council has compiled an updated story of our region. This colorful, limited edition history is available from member agencies for $35. The history may be purchased at the Mary L. Cook Public Library in Waynesville, or the Warren County Historical Society in Lebanon.
Slow Moving Vehicles and Bike Races
Residents are urged to use caution when our farmers are on the roadways. They have to move about, and will occasionally slow down traffic; a bit of patience is appreciated! Also, two triathlons are scheduled to take place in our township on June 3 and October 7, 2012. Bicycles will be on Middleboro, Olive Branch, Jeffery and Oregonia Roads. Please be patient and use caution; thank you very much!
Two new bike races have been announced for May 20 and for June 16.
House Number Signs
Green vertical house number signs for your mailbox post are available for purchase from the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District at 82 Spring Hill Road in Clarksville. They are $15 each, and checks can be made out to the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District. Call (937) 289-2427 Monday through Saturday between 6am to 4pm to make arrangements, or just stop by. If you are unable to mount the sign yourself, the Fire Department can handle this for you
Robberies in Township
There have been several robberies this past year in our township and in neighboring areas. Citizens are advised to lock homes and storage buildings, and keep outside lighting on at night. Please be aware of any unusual or suspicious behavior in your neighborhood, and report it to the Warren County Sheriff at 513-695-1289. Also if you come across someone selling tools and equipment very cheaply, these might be stolen goods. Report this as well. Thank you!
It is also advised to check with your insurance companies to make sure that all your tools and equipment are properly covered in the event of a theft.
High-Speed Internet
Many residents would like to have high-speed internet available in the township (some of you already do, but many do not). A new organization called “Connect Ohio” is taking petitions from residents in unserved areas in an effort to improve service in rural Ohio. To find out more, visit their website at www.connectohio.org. You can click on the middle gray ball that says “Broadband is not available to me yet” to notify the organization of your address, or download a petition form to have your neighbors sign up as well.
As of August 2010, our local carrier is Frontier Communications. To speak to them about possible high-speed internet, contact them at 1-877-462-4008.
At the January 10, 2011 meeting, a resident reported that he now has 4G high-speed internet service with a Verizon air card for approximately $50 per month. Other vendors also offer an air card that may work in your area.
