The township purchased this new piece of equipment replacing two outdated units. The new Engine 57 is a 2008 Pierce Contender. It has a 2,080 gallon water tank and 1,250 gpm pump. It is powered by a Cummins 6 cylinder diesel with approximately 360 hp. This truck has the capabilities of fighing fires in more remote areas of the township and can hold and pump a much higher rate of water than the two old units. This engine also helped the Harrison Fire Department ISO rating, which in some cases can lower home owner's insurance rates.
