Hanover School Memorial Park

 

Hanover Township has been aggressive in responding to a Township Citizen Survey that identified park expansion as a high priority for the township. The Township has purchased additional land and has made many changes to the 18 acres located at the intersection of Morman Road and State Route 130. The park consists of a Veterans’ Memorial, .55 walking/jogging path, children’s playground, picnic shelters, restrooms, gazebo, various types of bird houses, and a small baseball diamond. Ideas under consideration for the future include nature view areas with seating along the walking path, expanded parking, a wild flower/nature preserve area, and additional shelters. The successful development of this park is the direct result of partnerships formed with Butler County and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Over $140,000.00 in matching grant funds have been obtained by the Township and applied to park development.

The park has increased in use and now is becoming an all year destination due to the addition of the walking path. To assist with planning and events associated with the park, the Board of Trustees has appointed a five member Park Ad Hoc Advisory Committee to work with the Township Administration and make recommendations regarding park expansion and activities. Members of the committee include Mike Tilton - Chairperson, Jeff Buddo, Robert Krieger, Kim Muraski, and Angela Jester.

The Veterans’ Memorial includes an aspect for community participation. Paving bricks may be purchased to honor veterans or other family members and individuals. Details regarding purchase and participation may be obtained by calling 513-896-9059.
