About the Commission

The Ohio Commission on Local Government Reform and Collaboration shall develop recommendations on ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of local government operations, to achieve cost savings for taxpayers, and to facilitate economic development in this state.

The commission shall issue a report of its findings and recommendations to the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Governor not later than July 1, 2010. The commission ceases to exist upon submitting its report.

The Ohio Commission on Local Government Reform and Collaboration will hold its next meeting and work session on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 10:30 am. The meeting/work session will be held in the offices of the Ohio Township Association located at 6500 Taylor Road, Blacklick, OH 43004. (Directions) Parking for the general public is available..

The Commission generally meets the last Friday of each month at 10:30 am.  All Commission meetings are open to the public, as the Commission is governed by the Ohio Open Meetings and Public Records laws.

The Commission on Local Government Reform and Collaboration is developing recommendations on ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of local government operations to achieve cost savings to taxpayers and to facilitate economic development.

The work of the Commission is focusing on three areas:

  1. Identification of options for encouraging and incentivizing local government to collaborate
  2. Identification of local tax structure changes which would encourage collaboration or improve service effectiveness
  3. Identification of current/alternative service delivery models
