Township
Sourcebook Series
Published in cooperation with the Ohio
Township Association, the series is intended to aid in township governance
and management. Each manual provides an informational resource for elected
township officials about the functions and duties of their position. The
Township Trustee Sourcebook examines responsibilities particular to the elected
office of township trustee. As the other elected township official, clerks
have a different set of responsibilities which are presented in the Township
Clerk Sourcebook. The third manual in the sourcebook series provides an
overview of the personnel management function and recommended policies and
procedures.
Oxford Township Survey
The Center assisted Oxford
Township with a community survey. A project team was assembled that included
Undergraduate Research Assistants and Exchange Associates. The survey was
administered to all residents in the unincorporated area of the Township in
April/May 2000. The purpose of the survey was to provide Township officials with
information to address a variety of governance issues in the Township and to
establish certain benchmark data for Township services. On Monday July 17, 2000,
the final survey results were presented to the Oxford Township Trustees in a

West Milton Community Improvement Corporation
Center staff facilitated a goal-setting and action-planning process
for Board of Directors that involved preparing an inventory and environmental
scan, conducting a visioning and goal-setting process, and prioritizing and
developing an implementation strategy for the Action Plan. Follow the link

Goal-Setting and Team Building
On June 21, 2000, Center staff recently presented a session on
strategic planning at the Ohio Mayors Association Summer Conference in
Dayton. The goal-setting and
team-building session covered various approaches to strategic planning,
provided examples of what cities and villages are doing, and offered examples of
techniques that the Center has utilized in their own projects.
Clayton Agenda Building Workshop
The Center worked with officials from the newly formed City of Clayton to develop
an Action Agenda; follow the link for a copy of the report
cover and executive summary; if you are

Small Communities Environmental Infrastructure Group
(SCEIG)
Center staff often speak to small communities considering a water or
sewer project. The SCEIG is an excellent
resource for local officials. To learn how the various committees of the

Southwest Ohio Local Government Wage and
Benefit
Survey
The Center collects and maintains a database on municipal wages,
salaries, and benefits and prepared reports on various public employee
compensation issues in Butler, Warren, Montgomery, Clark, Greene, Darke, Preble,
Shelby, and Miami Counties. Data from 1998,
1999, and 2000
are reported on our data server.

Center staff
assisted local leaders from the Village of Waynesville in developing an
interactive, multi-media Economic Development CD-rom to be used as a
marketing tool; much of the information on the CD is a result of the
Village's Red Carnation award from the Ohio Development Association. If

Qualifications-Based Selection (QBS)
At the 1999 summer conference of the Ohio Mayors Association, Center
staff were part of a session on municipal contracting. Follow the link for
